Grade Level:  9, 10, 11, 12

Prerequisite:  The course is taught only at the Mid High building.  Students must be 15 years of age the day the semester starts and may be placed as space is available.  Also, in accordance with HB2889, students must meet both enrollment and 8th grade reading proficiency requirements in order to enroll in Driver Education.  Courses are provided the hour before school, after school, and in the summer (June and July).

This course is designed to meet the standards established by the State Department of Education.  All students must complete at least six hours of "behind-the-wheel" instruction and thirty hours of "classroom instruction" to receive credit.  Letter grades and ½ unit of credit will be given!!  This course provides information and practice activities needed to prepare for the basic driving exam.  The major purpose is to provide a foundation for the development of student driving skills.  Driver and passenger safety and the use of proper judgment in various situations are emphasized.
