ACT Prep Class

Prerequisite:   None

This course is designed to assist students preparing for the ACT assessment test.  The English portion will focus on the study and review of the elements of standard written English.  The student will learn rhetorical skills and reading skills.  The math portion will concentrate on algebra, geometry, and basic trigonometric processes.  Students will practice problem-solving skills such as reading, drawing diagrams, analyzing data, and drawing conclusions.

 

PSAT Prep Class

Prerequisite:  None

This course will prepare students for the Preliminary Scholastic Achievement Test given October 15, 2008.  English course content includes strategies for taking the test, practice on verbal reasoning skills, reading comprehension skills, and vocabulary building.  Math course content includes general information about the test, test taking strategies, and a review of specific subject matter.  Students will take both a pre-test and a post-test in each content area.  Students will complete daily lessons and homework will be required. 

 

The class will meet during the summer from 9:00 a.m.Noon, July 21st – 25th and July 28th – August 1st.  The class will meet before school from 7:15 a.m. – 8:15 a.m. Monday – Thursday each week from September 8th – October 9th.  The class will also meet for four (4) weekend sessions in September and October.  Transportation will not be provided.
