The Bartlesville School Board awarded a bid Thursday morning for turf to be installed on Ted Lyon Field at Custer Stadium. The board voted unanimously to award the bid to Sportexe in the amount of $647,705. The firm will install Momentum 41 Synthetic Turf with work expected to start the day after graduation. The contract calls for the turf to be installed in time for the beginning of football season.
Bartlesville School board accepted a $650,000 donation from the Lyon Foundation during its meeting Monday night. The funds will be used to pay for the installation of an artificial turf at Custer Stadium. In exchange the board voted to name the high school football field the E. H. "Ted" Lyon Field at Custer Stadium. Superintendent Dr. Gary Quinn told the board the artificial surface can be used by not only the football team but also the marching band, soccer team, and grade school organizations. The board plans to go out for bids so that work can start on the project the day after graduation in order for the surface to be ready for football in the fall.
2/8/2008 Phase Three: Field House The acoustic treatments for the Field House will be installed after the last home basketball game on February 12, and completed by the start of the Lonestar Conference Tournament in March. The materials to accomplish the project are on hand and the contractor plans to suspend 8' by 4' acoustic panels from the ceiling to reduce the amount of echo in the gymnasium. The lighting contractor is also ready to upgrade equipment in the field house.
Phase Four: Renovations The district is repainting the main building corridors and will be repairing damaged plaster in the second floor corridor. Plans for reworking the alleyway between the main building and the stadium are being developed by Randy Weatherly of Ambler Architects.
