- 6/29/2004:
Architectural Photos: Various photographs of campus architectural elements have been posted, highlighting some of the Streamline/Moderne and PWA Art Deco stylings of the buildings.
- 6/24/2004:
Phase Two - Fine Arts: The auditorium construction slideshow has been updated. Furnishings have arrived, and broadband visitors can enjoy updates to all of the interior PixArounds. This includes the lower lobby, the upper lobby, the choir room, the band room, the orchestra room, the visual arts room, the stagecraft area, the drama room, the computer lab, the lower and upper levels of the connecting spine, the view from the stage, and the view from the balcony.
- 6/3/04:
Phase Three - Library: The board of education has endorsed a shift in the position of the new library to reduce the impact on the existing 1939 main building and 1958 annex. The concept, proposed by the author of this website and endorsed by the district administration, shifts the library so that it is directly south of the stadium along the connecting link. The phase three map now shows the approximate location. This design change will likely delay bidding on that portion of the project for a month or two, but the intent is to still put the new field house out to bid in early Fall.
- 5/14/2004:
Phase Two - Fine Arts: Zero punch lists are being prepared for the Fine Arts Center, with several significant items to be resolved before substantial completion is declared. Broadband visitors can view updated PixArounds from the stage and of the computer lab, the drama room, and the visual arts room.
Phase Three: Design work continues on the new Field House, Library, and Connecting Link. Significant changes from the preliminary designs are likely due to monetary constraints and the need to minimize renovations in the older buildings until a later phase of the project.
- 5/7/2004:
Other Improvements: The Board of Education has awarded a $266,000 contract to Merritt Tennis & Track Systems of Oklahoma City to renovate the Chuck Doornbos Track around Custer Field. The blue track surface is visible in this photo from August 2002 and in this aerial shot from March 2002. $233,000 of the funding came from interest from the 2000 district bond issue, which preceded the Building on Excellence bond in 2001. The remaining $33,000 came from the daughter & granddaughters of Chuck Doornbos, whose daughter & son had donated $150,000 in 1987 for the replacement of the school's original cinder track. Chuck Doornbos was a track star in high school and at the University of Kansas.
