- 6/20/2006:
Phase Three - Field House: The interior of the Field House is mostly complete, but wrangling continues about the gym floor. The original floor was rejected for surface irregularities, a contractor's sample of a possible fix was rejected, and another sample of a possible fix is being considered. Progress is glacially slow on some remaining floor and ceiling work and the exterior parking area. The earliest completion date has now slid to mid-July.
- 6/13/2006:
Phase Four - Library & Renovations: In a week or so bids will be solicited to remodel the auditorium into a library, expand the first floor restrooms in the main building, create a new building linking the annex and stadium, and build a corridor from the Fine Arts Center to the older buildings. Current plans are to open the bids on July 13. Climate control renovations are on hold for now.
- 5/17/2006:
Phase Four - Library & Renovations: The Board of Education has adopted the recommendation made by some of the key figures from the 2001 bond campaign and planning committees to split the remaining Building on Excellence projects at BHS into three bids: - Remodel auditorium into a new library/media center & expand and renovate the first floor restrooms in the main building (reportedly approx. $1.28 million)
- Demolish the existing skybridge and replace it with a two-story structure to provide handicapped access to the bottom two floors of the annex and the middle floor of the stadium; construct a one-story enclosed corridor connecting that structure to the 1939 field house and the new field house and fine arts center (reportedly approx. $1.36 million)
- Use what funds remain available plus remaining maintenance funds from the 2001 bond issue to replace or upgrade the heat and air conditioning in the main 1939 building as much as is feasible (cost unknown)
- 5/10/2006:
Phase Four - Library & Renovations: The superintendent convened a group of people involved in the design of Phase Four, some members of the original 2001 Bond Communication Committee, some members of the current Long Range Facilities Committee, and a subset of current and past board members. They discussed how best to proceed with the remaining projects in light of the library coming in over bids for the third time, this time when coupled with the renovations project. The group has recommended to the Board of Education that the remaining projects specified in the 2001 bond issue be split into three bids:
- Remodel auditorium into a new library/media center & expand and renovate the first floor restrooms in the main building
- Demolish the existing skybridge and replace it with a two-story structure to provide handicapped access to the bottom two floors of the annex and the middle floor of the stadium; construct a one-story enclosed corridor connecting that structure to the 1939 field house and the new field house and fine arts center
- Examine what funds remain available to replace or upgrade the heat and air conditioning in the main 1939 building as much as is feasible
The Board will consider that recommendation at its meeting on May 15, 2006.
Phase Three - Field House: Progress remains quite slow in bringing the new field house to completion. The new gym floor has "chatter" marks across its surface that need to be addressed and there is some concern about its expansion joints. So no word yet on when the project will finally conclude.
- 4/21/2006:
Phase Three - Field House: The field house is approaching completion, and there are fresh snapshots of the playing area from the upper level as well as at the court level, the floor logo, the scoreboard & adboard, the weight room, the training room, a concession stand, the trophy cases, a team meeting room, a locker room, one of the shower rooms, and the laundry.

- 2/28/2006:
Phase Four - Library & Renovations: Bids for the new library and renovations in the older buildings were finally opened on April 13. Unfortunately, all of the bids were far higher than the architects' estimates and the available funds - by about two million dollars! The school board will have to reject the bids and the project will no doubt be scaled back even more, with consideration given to any possible alternative funding. This is the third strikeout on the library project and it is now certain that several items promised in the original bond issue cannot be acquired with the available funding in the current construction climate. This serves as a stern warning to the current incarnation of the Long-Range Facilities Planning Committee of the danger of lengthy construction bond issues and identifying too much of the funding use upfront.
- 2/28/2006:
Phase Four - Library & Renovations: Final plans are being reviewed and the project should go to bid in March. The descriptions and map of the project have been updated.
- 2/10/2006:
Phase Three - Field House: There are snapshots of the playing area from the upper level as well as at court level, the hospitality room, a locker room, the scoreboard, and a side corridor.

Phase Three - Field House: There is a snapshot of the new donated scoreboard. Arvest Bank and ConocoPhillips donated the funds for the item.
