Phase Four - Library: Work continues in the old auditorium and adjacent classroom. There are snapshots of framing for the revamped floor of the balcony and of the drywall in the library annex. You can also catch a peek or earlier work on the ceiling ductwork in the auditorium and adding framing in the future alumni room. Broadband visitors can enjoy a fresh PixAround of the annex.
- 12/19/2006:
Phase Four - HVAC: The Board of Education on 12/18 accepted a bid of $3,037,000 from Shiloh Enterprises of Edmond, OK to renovate the heating and air conditioning systems in the 1954 stadium, 1958 annex, and classroom areas of the 1939 main building.
- 12/3/2006:
Phase Three - Field House Dedication: There is a photo from the Field House dedication on Sunday, December 3, 2006.
- 11/22/2006:
Phase Four - Connecting Link: The 48-year-old skybridge between the stadium and annex has been demolished. There is a video of the demolition. Eventually there will be a new two-story structure in that location to provide handicapped access to the classrooms in each building, and to serve as a gateway to a connecting link to the Fine Arts Center and both of the field houses.
- 11/9/2006:
Phase Four - Connecting Link & HVAC: Gorman Construction is on-track to block off the old skybridge for demolition around Thanksgiving. Students and faculty will have to make some significant detours to reach the stadium classrooms, and travel between the Fine Arts Center/New Field House and older buildings will be primarily restricted to the west side of the campus.
The Board of Education is moving forward with plans to send the remaining HVAC renovations out for bid in several packages. Hopefully the stadium, annex, and portions of the main building will receive new climate control equipment. Finishing up the climate control renovations in the main building will likely require a future bond issue.

Phase Four - Library: There are new snapshots of the completed demolition and early reconstruction work in the old auditorium and the adjoining annex, where metal framing is up to define the various side rooms. Broadband visitors can enjoy a rotating PixAround views of the old auditorium and adjoining annex.

Phase Four - Library & Link: There are new snapshots of the demolition work in the old auditorium, its east wall that adjoins the annex, the adjoining annex classroom, and the future link area.

Phase Four - HVAC Renovations: The district and SPARKS are making plans to ask for bids in mid-November on HVAC renovations. Since we already know the cost to do all of the older buildings exceeds the currently available funds, the project will go to bid with a base bid plus several alternates. Reportedly the base bid will be for work in all three levels of the 1954 stadium and all three levels of the 1958 annex. One alternate will be for the north portion of the 1939 main building. Another alternate will be for the cafeteria. And a final alternate will be for the remainder of the 1939 main building. Any unfinished portions will have to rely upon additional funding from a future bond issue, and there are currently no plans to air condition the 1939 field house.
- 8/22/2006:
Phase Three - Field House: The new field house has been declared substantially complete, and the contractor is working its way through the final punch list.
Phase Four - Renovations: SPARKS architects are examining what climate control renovations might be accomplished with the remaining funds from the 2001 bond issue. Meanwhile the District Long-Range Facilities Committee has recommended to the Board of Education that a future bond issue provide $3,000,000 for additional climate control work at BHS. The additional funding is needed due to skyrocketing construction costs which have already adversely affected large construction projects in the region and were a contributor to the library/media center & connecting link needing four tries to achieve a successful bid. Most of the campus still relies upon inefficient 40-year-old HVAC systems that function poorly.
- 8/2/2006:
Phase Three - Field House: The field house is on the verge of completion, and there are fresh snapshots of the playing area from the upper level, the seating, some training room furniture, and the hospitality room. Broadband visitors can enjoy a new PixAround view of the completed gymnasium .
- 8/1/2006:
Phase Four - Library & Connecting Link/Bridge: The Board of Education has awarded a $3,088,000 contract to Gorman Construction of Bartlesville for the renovation of the old auditorium into a library/media center, replacement of the skywalk between the annex and stadium with a two-story connecting bridge, and the construction of a connecting link from there south to the lobby of the new Fine Arts Center and Field House.
- 7/18/2006:
Phase Three - Field House: Britt Embry of the Sparks Architectural Firm recently updated the board of education on this project, as reported by Bartlesville Radio:
Embry told the board the Field House project's contractor responded yesterday morning to his request for a plan and schedule showing how work would be completed on the field house by August first. Embry says the contractor's letter spent much more space explaining the delays that have already placed the project nearly 6 months behind the original schedule than on finishing the job. Embry outlined two major portions of the job that remain undone - the gym floor, which is projected to be ready by August 28th, and the asphalt paving and drives. The gym floor has already delayed the project because the original floor surface was unacceptable. A sub-contractor for the asphalt paving won't do the work because petroleum prices have increased since the job was bid and they are asking for more money. The school district's attorney assured the board that there was no provision in the contract to change the amount paid because of higher costs to a contractor and the business should simply do the job and negotiate the price later with the contractor that hired them.
Phase Four - Library & Connecting Link/Bridge: The bid date on the media center, connecting link, and connecting bridge project at Bartlesville High School has been extended until July 25th to allow potential contractors more time to submit their bids.
