Phase One: Floodplain Development

View from Stadium Press Box:
Ten Weeks Into Construction

Viewpoint MapThis photo was taken on April 15, 2002, about ten weeks after the groundbreaking ceremony for phase one. You are standing on top of the stadium press box, looking east across Shawnee Avenue at the floodplain area and then turning to the south to look out over the existing practice field. The floodplain is cleared and much of the grading has been completed. If you zoom in just above the south (rightmost) billboards in the visitor stands, you'll spot a gravel pile on the future parking lot. That gravel pile rests just in front of (or east of) the land set aside for the Haley Environmental Lab. The future lot is also dotted with gray concrete cylinders, which are the bases for light poles. Just left of the Custer Field scoreboard you'll spot behind some trees a large area where some of the gravel base for the parking lot has been spread.
