This photo was taken at the start of the sixtieth of construction on November 27, 2005. You are standing midway along 18th street just southeast of the new Fine Arts Center.
In the above image the EIFS (Exterior Insulating Finish System) is being finished. Below is a close-up of the process. At the far left of the new construction is bare concrete block. As you proceed right you see that block covered by sculpted bright white styrofoam. The styrofoam is then covered in a gray coating. The final finish applied over that has the desired darker shade of white.
