View from Midway Along 18th Street,
Fifty-Three Weeks Into Construction

Viewpoint Map This construction photo was taken at the end of the fifty-third week of Phase Two on May 31, 2003. You are standing near 18th street, but the increasing size of the building has altered the perspective from the previous views, and this image does not extend a full 360 degrees.

Much of the exterior masonry is complete. The new south stairwell (which is not yet enclosed) and other areas to the east of the auditorium now obscure our view of the east side of the high auditorium area. The yellow areas are gypsum board applied over steel studs, which is then covered by the white exterior insulating finish system (EIFS). The scaffolding on two different high areas is where EIFS is being applied. The large unfinished area to the right of the bulging unenclosed stairwell is where the lobby will eventually connect to the new field house, which in a few years will be built to the east of this structure.
