Viewpoint Map This photo was taken six weeks into phase two on July 7, 2002. You are looking generally west from the alley. The tall concrete pillars for the footings are now freed from their forms. Apparent are the surrounding wooden forms for the large concrete side walls of the science wing's base.

The tall side walls and footings are needed to lift the wing up to match to the existing building's first and second floors for better interior access and traffic flow. The concrete side walls will later enclose dirt fill at this lowest level, with only an exit stairwell penetrating that space.
