Indian Education - Operation Eagle

Bartlesville Public Schools currently offers two Indian Education programs, the Cherokee Nation Johnson O’Malley and the Title VII program.  Operation Eagle administers both programs under the direction of Freeda Wilcox, Federal Programs Coordinator.  The Operation Eagle program director is Lilly Tyner and office assistant is Leslie Donnell.  The office is located in the McKinley building at 1536 SW Keeler.

The Cherokee Nation Johnson O’Malley program provides school supplies, caps and gowns for seniors, and SAT fees to eligible students.  To qualify for the JOM program, a copy of the student’s Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood or other documentation of Indian blood must be on file at the Operation Eagle office.

The Title VII, Indian Education grant provides tutoring for Indian students to increase reading and math scores for Indian sub-groups on state assessments to meet the No Child Left Behind mandates. The OK PASS objectives are taught using cultural activities of dance, tribal dress, art, history, and tribal government. Title VII services do not require documentation of Indian descent.

For further information regarding Bartlesville Public Schools Indian Education programs, please contact the Operation Eagle office at 337-0130.
