Bartlesville's seven elementary schools, which serve students from pre-kindergarten until the fifth grade, boasted an enrollment of approximately 2,460 young people during the 2006-07 school year. The elementary schools operate with a nurturing, homeroom environment to provide individual support and attention for the students. Music, art and physical education classes are provided in addition to regular classroom subjects.
Secondary schools consist of two middle schools (which caters to grades six through eight), a mid-high school (grades nine and 10), and a senior high school (grades 11 and 12). Enrollment between the four schools totaled about 3,160 during the 2006-07 school year. In addition to the core curriculum, the secondary program offers a variety of courses such as foreign languages, art, music, speech and 21 advanced placement classes.
During the 2006-07 school year, the Bartlesville Public School District opened the Will Rogers Early Childhood Center. The school offers full-day kindergarten classes and houses pre-kindergarten education as well. The school boasted a first-year attendance of approximately 315 students along with 45 staff members.
Specialists in the areas of learning disabilities, library, counseling, physical education and vocal and instrumental music serve on the staff at all 12 schools within the district. The district's special education program employs specialists to aid exceptional students with physical and mental handicaps. A team of gifted/talented consultants work directly with students and teachers to meet the needs of our gifted student population.
In all, approximately 5,930 students were enrolled in Bartlesville Public Schools during the 2006-07 academic year while the district boasted about 450 employees. The student/teacher ratio during the last academic year - 2006-07 - was about 13 to 1.
