QUALIFICATIONS:

1.        Current Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate.

2.        Demonstrated skills and talents in instrumental music with emphasis on band instruments.

3.        A minimum of five years successful teaching experience in the classroom.

4.        Such additional qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate.

SUPERVISES: Band Instrument Teaching Staff

JOB DESCRIPTION:                           

To lead the instrumental music program’s curriculum goals and objectives by promoting pride in the band program, setting/obtaining high achievement standards and effectively supervising students/band staff.

 

Essential Job Functions:

1.        Maintains high levels of performance standards for students and staff.

2.        Meets regularly and collaboratively with band staff

3.        Promotes and maintains parent support of the band program.

4.        Exhibit leadership to promote buy-in regarding student activities

5.        Work with band staff members to ensure quality instruction.

6.        Coordinates all band trips and knows how to delegate responsibility

7.        Develops and secures evaluation of student success or progress while in the program

8.        Prepares the curriculum guides for use by band instrument teachers in carrying out the band instrument teachers in carrying out the band instruction program and meets with such teachers periodically to interpret and help implement the curriculum.

9.        Coordinates district-wide testing and recruitment of beginning band instrument students.

10.     Coordinates district-wide testing and recruitment of beginning band instruments students.

11.     Advises teachers in the selection and use of band instrument instructional materials.

12.     With the orchestra coordinator, coordinates the organization and development of a complete orchestra.

13.     Arranges and carries out inservice workshops and demonstrations on the teaching of band instruments.

14.     Supervises all district-wide band music performances and other band music performances of students when they are representing the schools.

15.     Provides leadership in the planning and execution of individual school concerts, recitals and other band music performances.
