5th
Grade Science Fair
GATE 5th grade students should be busy
working on their science fair projects at home.
Projects need to be completed and ready to present on February 22nd
or 23rd during the 5th grade GATE class. GATE Science Fair will be held at the Wayside
School Gym on February 23rd from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Science Fair
displays must be picked up by 6:00 that evening.
4th Grade Invention Fair
Student invention projects are to be completed at
home. Students are required to bring the
projects to GATE completed, ready to present on March 10th. The GATE 4th Grade Invention Fair
will be held at Wayside School on March 11th. Stop by and view the inventions between 3:30-7:00
p.m.
3rd Grade Students will be choosing their
Renzulli projects this month. This
project will be completed during GATE but some supplies may be needed from
home.
2nd Grade Because of the weather and school
cancelations, some PowerPoint presentations are still not quite finished. We will be finishing and presenting these
this month. Also the 2nd graders need to be sending
recyclables for a Space Habitat. (Plastic
bottles, cereal boxes, misc. plastic containers, please no glass. Thanks!!!)
The Duke 2010 4th
/ 5th Grade Talent Search information is now available. Please review the Criteria listed below and
visit the Duke TIP Web site located at: www.tip.duke.edu .
Eligibility: Elementary student in the 4th or 5th
grade
95% or
higher on a grade-level standardized achievement test, aptitude test,
mental-ability test, approved state criterion-referenced test, or 125 or above
on an IQ test.
Enrollment Fee: $ 35.00 enrollment fee payable with
registration
Enrollment deadline: Paper applications: postmarked by March 1, 2010

Annual All-Schools Chess Tournament date: February
20, 2010
Chess Tournament forms are available in the school
offices. Participation in the chess
tournament is optional for all students.
The Entry Form is due by February 12, 2010. Entry Fee $5.00
