Invention Projects

The GATE Invention Fair will be held at Wayside School on March 11th from 3:30 – 7:00 p.m.  You will need to bring your working model and report to your GATE class on Wednesday 10th to present to your peers.  Your invention fair project should contain the following information in your report:

NEED –                      Why is this invention needed?  How did you come up with

the idea?

PURPOSE –              What exactly will this invention do?  Make a statement, for

instance:  This invention will help handicapped people

open the door.

PROCEDURE –       Tell step-by-step how you made the model of your

invention.

RESULTS –              Tell how your invention works, stating any problems you

had and what tools you used.

CONCLUSION –      Tell if you think this tool will solve the problem you

wanted it to overcome.  Does the tool do what it was

designed to do?  Can any improvements be made to make it

better?

BIBLIOGRAPHY – You will need to look up references about the problem you

are trying to solve.  For instance, if you are making an

invention to help people with a certain handicap look up

information about the handicap.  If you are making an

invention to make you run faster, then look up articles

about running.  Try to find magazine articles, Internet

information, encyclopedia information, and books from the

library.  State the name of the book or magazine, the web

site, whatever, on your bibliography.
