Several current and former administrators in the Bartlesville Public Schools were recognized on Tuesday, May 15 at the Bartlesville Chamber of Commerce’s 114th Annual Gala.

Supt. McCauley
Superintendent Chuck McCauley was surprised to receive the Tom Shoemake Leadership Award, presented to an outstanding leader in the Bartlesville region. Recipients must exhibit the courage to make tough decisions, the confidence to stand alone, the compassion to listen to the needs of others, and do not set out to be a leader but become one by the quality of their actions and the integrity of their intent.

Supt. McCauley was recognized for his leadership in the district since he started out as a Vice-Principal at Bartlesville High School in 2001-02, rising to become Superintendent in 2016. In 2018, he became a de facto leader among superintendents statewide in the successful effort to spur the legislature to finally act to improve teacher salaries to address a statewide teacher shortage.

Ryan Huff
Ryan Huff, the district’s Director of Athletics & Activities, was recognized as one of 30 graduates of the Leadership Bartlesville XXVII program.  He participated in eight class sessions on Community Services, City Government, Healthcare, Education, Criminal Justice, Economic Development/Large Business, Small Business, Tourism and the Arts, and delivered a Capstone Presentation.
Earl Sears
Earl Sears, who worked at Central Middle School for 32 years, spending 24 years as an administrator, received the Frank Phillips Award as a citizen who contributes time, energy and talents to Bartlesville economic development efforts. He was recognized for his achievements during his earlier service on the city council and his subsequent 12 years representing House District 10 in the state legislature. Mr. Sears is term-limited, and candidates for his open seat will be at the public forum discussed on page 1.

Tri-County Tech was named Business of the Year at the event.
