On April 26, the BHS business department took nine students to compete in the Cherokee Nation Business Idea Competition in Claremore:
  • Ashton Marlar
  • Ashlynn Sweat
  • Sophia Walker
  • Felicity Bernal
  • Kaylee Taylor
  • Jaden Wright
  • Elijah Yanez
  • James Austin
  • Casper Naegle
The event was like a “Shark Tank” for high schoolers. The competition was open to all students within the jurisdiction of the Cherokee Nation.  Students were allowed to compete individually or as teams of two. They presented a business idea, along with a tri-fold board, and a business plan.  They were interviewed by judges about their business and then given a score based on several factors. Prizes were awarded to the top Business Idea in each category.  The BHS students had some innovative business ideas.

Bartlesville student Ashton Marlar finished 5th and won a cash prize.
