Bartlesville High School has yet another group of students who are state champions! Joining the girls cross country, girls swimming, and 10-12 science fair teams as state champions are newspaper and magazine students taught by BHS Journalism instructor Darla Tresner.

The high school newspaper, The Fourth Estate, won Sweepstakes in Newspaper and the 4E Plus won Sweepstakes in Magazine.

Four students were State Champions in individual categories: Rachel Brown, Ashlynn Robbins, Lauren Szmutko, and Edward Reali. Second and third place winners included Jack Settle, Alex Merrifield, and Christi Stumpff.

The online 4E Voices and other magazines produced by the program placed in their categories as well. Last fall, for the first and only time in Mid-High history, the yearbook for the former Mid-High won Sweepstakes.

Each fall and spring high school journalism students from across the state gather at the University of Oklahoma for Oklahoma Scholastic Media's Media Monday conferences. The students attend media workshops, seminars and lectures taught by professionals and professors, and awards are given for various aspects of high school journalism.
