The autumn season brings with it three different deadlines for certified employees of the Bartlesville Public Schools who wish to apply for classroom grants from the Bartlesville Public Schools Foundation.

Recently we featured the stories of three different teachers who applied for and received some of the 13 grants totaling $21,738 which the Foundation awarded in 2016-17.

So please note these upcoming deadlines:
  • 9/25/2017: Deadline to apply for the first of two rounds of Classroom Grants
  • 10/9/2017: Deadline to apply for a new NOK ACS Science Grant
  • 11/27/2017: Deadline to apply for the second and final round of Classroom Grants
CLASSROOM GRANT proposals due 9/25 and 11/27
Classroom Grants are awarded twice each year to fund new or innovative approaches that develop or supplement programs to stimulate thought or expand existing curriculum. In 2016-17, the Foundation awarded $21,738 in such grants.
NOK ACS SCIENCE GRANT proposals due 10/9
This is a new program in which the Foundation is partnering with the Northern Oklahoma section of the American Chemical Society to offer science grants to educators in an effort to engage students in the study of science. These grants are awarded once a year to educators at any level.

The Foundation also sponsors two programs which are available year-round to certified employees of the Bartlesville Public Schools:

PROFESSIONAL GROWTH GRANTS
Professional Growth Grants are awarded monthly to enable attendance at seminars, conferences, workshops and other professional developmental opportunities to enhance instructional and administrative training and management skills development. Proposals are due the 15th of the month at least two months prior to an event. In 2016-17, the Foundation awarded 15 such grants totaling $8,516.
EXPERTS IN RESIDENCE GRANTS
These are awarded monthly to provide funding and serve as a catalyst to initiate visits from a variety of experts that provide face-to-face interaction between the subject area expert and students. Proposals are due the 15th of the month at least two months prior to an event. In 2016-17, the Foundation awarded five such grants totaling $6,855.

Hall of Fame
EDUCATOR HALL OF FAME nominations due 10/18
The Foundation is also now accepting nominations for its Educator Hall of Fame Class of 2018. The deadline to submit a nomination is Wednesday, October 18, 2017. Inductees will be announced early next year.

In its ninth year, the Educator Hall of Fame seeks to recognize outstanding former Bartlesville Public School District educators who made a positive impact on students and the Bartlesville community. All of the previous honorees are shown online.

Anyone who knows of a former BPSD educator deserving to be a member of the Hall of Fame is encouraged to nominate that person for this prestigious honor:
