Julie Eide, a fourth grade teacher at Richard Kane Elementary, has been named the Bartlesville Public School District Teacher of the Month for April 2016 by Arvest Bank and Oakley-Chevrolet Buick.

In recognition of this honor, Mrs. Eide was presented a plaque and a $300.00 check by Stephen Colaw, Arvest Bank Senior Vice President and Trust Client Advisor, and David Oakley Jr., owner of Oakley Chevrolet-Buick.

Mrs. Eide has twenty-six years of classroom teaching experience. She is completing her fourth year at Kane Elementary and previously served elementary students at Dewey and Leeton, MO.

Mrs. Eide said “I grew up in a small rural town in Oklahoma and a teacher was my first professional role model. I admired everything about Mrs. Walls, my first grade teacher. As I grew up and headed to college there was no question about my career choice, I wanted to be a teacher.”

Cooperative learning, differentiated instruction and integrated technology are the cornerstone strategies employed in Mrs. Eide’s classroom. She also uses formative assessments, data analysis and reading and writing across the curriculum to ensure all of her students are learning on a high level.

Mrs. Eide values a well-managed classroom, saying, “I believe that children learn best when they feel comfortable, appreciated, have clear boundaries and know the expectations. I use Great Expectations in my classroom daily. I believe GE helps students build self-esteem and take responsibility for their own progress."

Shelly White, principal at Kane Elementary, said, “I value Mrs. Eide’s ability to communicate with parents and engage them as partners in their child’s learning. She cares about the success of each student in her classroom and eagerly ties new ways to help them reach their goals. She is also very gifted in mentoring new teachers to help them gain the skills they need to become successful teachers.”

Mrs. Eide’s community service reflects her interest in children. She is a leader in the Washington County Conference on Twins in School, the Bartlesville Mothers of Twins Club and the Foster/Adoptive Parent Association. She is also a director of the Little Lamb Preschool and the Summer Reading Program and serves as a Relay for Life Team Captain.

Bartlesville Public Schools is proud to join Arvest Bank and Oakley Chevrolet-Buick in honoring Julie Eide as the Bartlesville Teacher of the Month for April.
