At its regular meeting on August 19, the Bartlesville Board of Education appointed Suzy Keirsey to fill Alison Clark’s seat for District 3, which covers most of downtown Bartlesville. Per Board policy, Keirsey will stand for election for the seat in 2020 because her appointment came during the first half of Clark’s term.

Keirsey and her husband, Austin, have lived in Bartlesville since 2006. Together they have two daughters: one attends third grade at Richard Kane Elementary and the other is a junior at Bartlesville High School. Suzy has volunteered for the district since her oldest was in elementary school, is currently the PTO Secretary at Richard Kane Elementary, and served on the Teacher of the Year Committee last year.

Regarding that committee work, Keirsey said, “That was such a great experience. We have so many great teachers in this district; I really enjoyed hearing their reasons for teaching.”

The board accepted Ms. Clark’s resignation at its regular meeting on July 15, 2019, due to her job-related relocation out of state. Clark stated, “Throughout the years, I had heard so many times that being a board member is a thankless job. But it was also such a rewarding one.”
