Twila Divine, a fourth grade teacher at Ranch Heights Elementary School, has been named one of the Bartlesville Public School District’s Teachers of the Month by Arvest Bank and Oakley Chevrolet Buick.

In recognition of this honor, Ms. Divine was presented with a plaque and a $300 check by Annah Fischer, Arvest Bank Marketing Manager, and David Oakley Jr., owner of Oakley Chevrolet Buick.

Mrs. Divine has 25 years of experience teaching at the elementary and middle school levels. She is in her third year of teaching fourth grade students.

Education was always valued in her family. Her mother made sure Mrs. Divine and her sisters understood the importance of an education and the value of knowing a foreign language. As a child, she grew up with children from Mexico, El Salvador, South America, Denmark, Sweden, Japan, Norway, and many others. It was through these experiences that she was prepared for a future in education.

Mrs. Divine believes teaching is a passion that can be felt when beginning each new year and welcoming each new student to the classroom. She believes that with the help of teachers, parents, and members of the community, every student can learn. She believes an outstanding teacher is a problem solver, has high expectations, holds children accountable, works well with others, and spends time outside the regular day preparing materials and letting the children know they are valued by attending activities their students participate in outside of school.

Mrs. Divine’s greatest achievements, she believes, are her students. The moment when a student finally grasps a concept he or she has been struggling to learn, or chooses to do great things later in life, or comes back to visit her classroom after the year is over is when Mrs. Divine knows she is achieving her goal: making a difference in a student’s life.

Bartlesville Public Schools is proud to join Arvest Bank and Oakley Chevrolet Buick in honoring Twila Divine as a Bartlesville Teacher of the Month.
