At its meeting on August 21, the Bartlesville Board of Education appointed Andrea Nightingale to fill out the remainder of Nikki Benson's term as the member for District 6, which covers the southeast portion of the school district. Board policy requires appointments be made when there is a vacancy and less than half of the current term remains; the term for District 6 ends in early 2020.

Ms. Nightingale and her husband have two daughters who attend Ranch Heights Elementary School. She is an Information Technology Business Analyst/Project Manager with ConocoPhillips and has been employed with the company in Bartlesville since 2004. She is currently a board member of the Boys & Girls Club, a volunteer and PTO President at Ranch Heights, and is an active member of Bartlesville First Baptist Church. Ms. Nightingale was a graduate of Class XVI of the Leadership Bartlesville program and served as co-chair of the program's Classes XX, XXI, XXII, and XXIII. She was the ConocoPhillips campaign chair for its 2016 United Way program.

We are excited to have this active young member of the community represent District 6, bringing her perspective and expertise to the Board of Education.

Before the board meeting, there was a reception for Nikki Benson, and Superintendent McCauley presented her with a plaque of appreciation for her years of effective service. In July the Board accepted her resignation after she purchased a home and moved to a different board district in Bartlesville. She had served on the school board since 2010, including her service as Clerk of the Board since 2016. Benson stated at the time of her resignation, “It has been a wonderful experience serving on the board for the past eight years. I have not only learned more than I could have imagined, but I have had the opportunity to meet and get to know such an amazing group of staff and administrators. Our community is lucky to have such amazing educators that serve the children of our district.”
