The Washington County School Supply Drive (WCSSD) is gearing up for the busiest time of our year so we can provide school supplies to about 2,400 students again this year.

We’ll be moving our stored supplies to St. Luke’s on June 25 at 9 a.m.  We could really use lots of help that day to make it go as quickly as possible. We promise to have lots of cold water to keep everyone hydrated.  While we have lots of boxes, almost all are light enough for practically anyone to handle.  With lots of folks present, we can use the “bucket brigade” to load and unload the truck. Please email Bob Wesneski at if you can assist.

We’ll be packing the backpacks on August 6 and 7 with the main distribution on August 8.  Not much will change this year  For all of you who have helped in the past few years, the kids really thank you.  Their smiles tell it all on distribution day.

While we do have lots of supplies already, we’ll be buying even more in the next 2 months.  We’ll spend about $50,000 so every donation of $10, $20 or $50 goes a long way – we HATE to pay full price for anything.  If you can spring for a few backpacks at $20 a pop, that would really help.

We invite you to visit our website to let us know when you can help:  It’s wonderful seeing so many of our good friends each year and we ask that, if this is something that speaks to you, that you ask your relatives, friends and co-workers to come join you.  You know they’ll have a great time and we can always use a few extra hands.  Thanks so very much to all of you who give up your most precious resource, your time, to make a difference in a lot of kids’ lives.
