Poms dominate competition in OKC; Stewart named Coach of the Year

The Bartlesville Pom Squad dominated the competition in December 2016 in Oklahoma City at the Oklahoma State Dance Team Director’s Association competition. The Bartlesville Varsity Pom team won the state title in the 6A-2 Hip Hop and Pom division. The JV squad won the state title in Jazz and took 2nd in the Pom division. The 7/8th grade squad won the state title with their Pom routine and the 6th grade squad placed 3rd with their Pom routine.

Stephanie Stewart, Varsity pom coach, was named “Coach of the Year” and Lauren Haskell, JV pom coach, was presented the “Chorography Award” for the JV Jazz dance.

Sophomore Cassie Harding and freshman Gloria Castillo won the state title with their duet in the small intermediate ensemble division. Gloria also placed 2nd in the intermediate solo division. 2nd place in large intermediate ensemble were freshmen Amelia Ray and Gracie Butler and sophomores Jadyn Keeler, Mika Gillman, and Kelsi Graves.

Bartlesville Pom will be competing next in January 2017 at the Dance for a Cure competition in Jenks and at the Lee Summit North Regional Competition in Kansas City, Missouri. In February they will be heading to Orlando, Florida where they will compete for a national title.
