A number of Bartlesville High School students have been recognized with Oklahoma Regional Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. The region included 82 senior art portfolios and 1820 individual art entries.

Students won Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention awards. The Gold Key artwork was on display at the Thomas K. McKeon Center for Creativity at the Tulsa Community College (TCC) Metro Campus. An awards ceremony was held at TCC for the Gold Key and Silver Key winners on Saturday, February 4, 2017. The Gold Key winners' artwork will go on to be judged at the national level. Those students will receive their results on March 14, 2017. Senior Gold Key winners could win scholarships.

Each year, nearly 100 visual arts and literary arts organizations partner in the program. Teens in grades 7-12 apply in 29 categories of art and writing. In 2016 nearly 320,000 works of art and writing were submitted and juried by luminaries in the visual and literary arts. Panelists look for works that best exemplify originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.

Gold Key works go on to be judged nationally by an impressive panel of creative–industry experts to receive National Medals, including Gold, Silver, American Visions & Voices, Portfolio Silver with Distinction or Portfolio Gold Medals and Sponsored Awards. National Medalists are recognized in part at the National Ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
