The Bruin
In November 2017 the district resumed publishing its online newsletter, The Bruin, although not as a weekly periodical. Instead, the newsletter, which will consist of recent posts from the district's online newsfeed, will be published every few weeks on an as-needed basis when sufficient articles have built up or before a major event.

The Bruin began in February 2007 as a weekly e-mail newsletter published by the district's Community Relations Coordinator. It continued under a succession of coordinators until that full-time position was eliminated, due to state funding cuts, in March 2016.

At that point, the district switched to publishing news as a stream of items on the online District Newsfeed which are cross-posted to the district's Facebook and Twitter accounts. Every few weeks the district sent out via email and posted online a "BPSD News Summary" with links to recent posts.

Granger Meador, who now leads the district's technology and communications efforts, decided to bring back The Bruin in its new form. "The newsletter format appeals to those who don't want a daily dose of district news but like to keep up with district-level events. It is also valuable to third-party nonprofits who use it to help distribute district-approved event flyers relevant to our patrons. I am now able to put a newsletter together every few weeks since I have Laci McClintock's help with some articles and photos along with Christie Young's help with flyers."

The district will continue to publish the newsfeed items, but now most will also be compiled in the revived newsletter. Like the previous news summary, it will be sent out via SchoolMessenger as an email to all contacts in the district's PowerSchool system plus a group of additional subscribers. Interested community members can subscribe to a daily email with any news posts from that day and/or can subscribe to The Bruin. See the instructions in the box on this webpage.

The district uses MailChimp to email a daily summary of any news posts:
