The Wayside Parent Student Association has been conducting a book fair in late October 2016. Students and parents were invited to purchase books.

Recognizing the challenges new elementary school teachers face at any school site, the WPSA has graciously decided to share the proceeds from the book fair with the ten teachers across the district who are first-year-ever teachers in the Bartlesville Public School District's six elementary schools. Each of those teachers has been invited to select a set of books at the fair valued at $50-$75 for use in their own classrooms.

The group has a history of sharing book fair proceeds. In prior years it has given books to students and teachers at Jane Phillips Elementary and to needy students across the district. The school participates in the All for Books program sponsored by Scholastic, which matches donations and provides books through programs such as Kids In Need Foundation, Reader to Reader, Inc., and the National Center for Families Learning.

The district commends the WPSA for its altruism in providing this support at other elementary schools across the district. The WPSA's generosity drives home the message, "We are all Bruins."
