PLTW Launch

The district is implementing Project Lead the Way Launch STEM modules at each of its elementary schools. In 2017-2018 a Computer Science module was taught in every K-5 class in the district, thanks to the generous support of an $85,000 Challenge Grant by the Bartlesville Public Schools Foundation and associated donors as well as a $35,000 grant from ConocoPhillips. The district now offers a complete Computer Science Pathway from kindergarten through high school.

For 2018-19, the Bartlesville Public Schools Foundation raised another $115,000, which was combined with continued support from ConocoPhillips to implement biomedical and engineering modules in every K-5 classroom.

The Foundation is now engaged in a final $100,000 fundraising effort which will complement funding from ConocoPhillips to implement two more engineering modules in every K-5 classroom in 2019-20 and 2020-21.

The teacher specialists at the Education Service Center organize this program with the support of lead teacher trainers at each elementary site.

iPads & Carts

iPad
Each elementary school has two LocknCharge carts for use with the Launch modules. Each contains six removable baskets, with 5 iPads in each basket.

Chromebooks

The Dell 5190 Chromebooks in the baskets in the white-and-green Joey 30 carts at the elementary schools support Android apps and will thus support most PLTW Launch modules beginning in August 2019.

Two gray carts of Chromebooks will be deployed to each elementary school in the summer of 2019, also equipped with Dell 5190 Chromebooks that support Android apps and thus most PLTW Launch modules.

SUNSET CHROMEBOOKS NOT SUPPORTED
Some older Dell 3120 Chromebooks will eventually be distributed to elementary school classrooms as "sunset" devices. They do NOT support Android apps and, as sunset devices, will receive limited support: Tech Services will reset malfunctioning devices as needed by Powerwashing them, but there will be no hardware repairs. Sunset devices which become inoperable due to hardware issues will be collected and sold as surplus equipment.
