5-week Canvas Progress Report with tips and tricks

Thanks to the 62 teachers at BHS who have published their courses thus far, we are already serving 25,000-50,000 page views per school day to 1,652 students. 

So far there have been:
  • 1,464 assignments (131,511 page views)
  • 171 discussion topics (24,086 page views)
  • 3,013 uploaded files
  • 140 media recordings
  • lots of quizzes (134,449 page views)
And that's with only having Chromebooks for freshmen and classroom Chromebooks carts for 10-12 English classes. Think of the usage we'll see as more teachers adopt Canvas and when every student has a Chromebook next year!

Sharing Content in Canvas Commons

Some teachers are eager to share Canvas resources with each other. One easy way to do this is via the Canvas Commons. You can upload course content to the Commons and specify that it be available to a specific group of your fellow teachers.

To set up a group of teachers who will share resources, just send Granger Meador a school email indicating you want to set up a group, specifying the name of the group (e.g. BPSD Spanish I) and who should be the group manager or managers. He'll set it up and then the manager can go into the Commons and add other teachers to the group. Those teachers can then upload specific content, specifying that it go the group. The manager can manage the uploaded resources, add and delete members of the group, etc.
