In October 2015 the district deployed Google Apps for Education for students and staff. This allows staff members to sign into Google services with their usual district network username and password (rather than a personal Gmail or Google account).
  • First we must reset your district password, even if you just re-confirm the existing one. This will sync that username and password with Google Apps for Education.
  1. Login to a district computer with your district username and password. Once logged in, press CTRL-ALT-DEL and select "Change password".
  2. You will need to enter your username, old password, and new password. (Your new password CAN be the same as your old password, but you still need to do this step.)
  3. That will permanently sync your login credentials with Google; now you're ready to go login to Google Apps for Education.
  • Next we sign in to Google.
  1. Browse to and click on the blue "Sign in" box at the top right of the webpage. (If you are already logged into a Google account, you will need to select "Add account" or "Sign out" before you can login.)
  2. Login using your district username followed by (so it looks like your email address) and then click next.
  3. Enter your password, which is the same as your district password.
  4. You should be logged in; from now on you just need to use your current district username and password to login to Google as needed.
These educational accounts provide special features, including:
  • Google Classroom
  • Student email accounts via GMail (staff email will still be via Microsoft Exchange)
  • Shared access to Google Drive, Calendars, Docs, and more
  • Additional storage in Google Drive and at Google Sites
  • No advertising
  • User accounts tied into the district's Active Directory to sync the username and password for easy access
Classroom is available to anyone with Google Apps for Education, a free suite of productivity tools including Gmail, Drive and Docs.

Classroom is designed to help teachers create and collect assignments paperlessly, including time-saving features like the ability to automatically make a copy of a Google Document for each student. It also creates Drive folders for each assignment and for each student to help keep everyone organized.

Students can keep track of what's due on the Assignments page and begin working with just a click. Teachers can quickly see who has or hasn't completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback and grades right in Classroom.
