Class Information

 

 

 

  • Classes are held in the early childhood pod located in the center of the east wing of Hoover.  Classes are staffed by an early childhood specialist and a paraprofessional. 
  • Classes are filled on a first come first served basis.  Currently we have a waiting list.  If you are interested in being placed on the waiting list, call the Hoover office, 918-333-9337. 
  • There are no fees charged for the Pre-K program.

The preschool curriculum is designed to meet the needs of the whole child.  The classroom is organized into learning centers.  Classroom instruction includes leveled literacy experiences and math based on the Everyday Mathematics program.  After assessing your child, the teacher will work with the family to establish academic and social goals for the year.  Our goal, in partnership with families is to help children develop the desire to work hard, to see task through to completion, to take responsibility for their work and to build a sense of classroom community.

Biography

 
  •  Mrs. McQuillen has worked with young children for more than 20 years.   She has taught preschool, kindergarten and first grade.  She also serves as the Reading Specialist for Hoover.  Mrs. McQuillen holds a B.S. in Elementary Education, an M.S. Ed. in Reading and a standard certificate in Early Childhood.  She is also certified as an Early Childhood Generalist by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards.
