Class Information

 

 

 

·       Classes are held in the early childhood pod located in the center of the east wing of Hoover.

·       We have 20 children in our room.  Our schedule consists of tabletop centers, group experiences for literacy growth, small group instruction for increasing skills necessary for beginning to read or guided reading, literature projects, group experiences in mathematics and mathematics projects.

·       Whole group instruction, small group instruction, and individual support are offered for all children.

Curriculum

 

 

·       Mathematics instruction is from the EveryDay Math Curriculum.  Through this program, children engage in numerous math activities, including daily math routines, group experiences, games, and activities to be completed at home.

  • Literacy instruction includes leveled reading readiness experiences and guided reading groups, as well as group experiences wherein the children engage in shared reading, shared writing, dissection of print, and word wall activities.  Individual writing instruction is delivered through individual book making and journal writing.
