Note From Mrs. Cook
We truly believe that Kane Elementary School is the best school in
town! We have a diverse population reflecting “real
world” demographics that prepares students to function socially
with those different from themselves. Our strong sense of
tradition allows us to share valuable learning experiences year after
year while building a sense of consistency and stability.
Kane Elementary 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders did an excellent job on their
state tests last spring! We have celebrated with our staff and
students. They all worked hard to achieve that success. We
are proud of their efforts and expect continued success in the future.
Our improvement goals for the year include increasing our math and
reading achievement and raising our attendance to 96%. Remember every
day of school is important, but Mondays are especially important
because new concepts are often introduced then for the week. Also, try
to schedule your child's appointments before or after school or during
school vacations.
Students who are tardy are also a concern for us, because the day's
work begins right at 8:55 AM. Those who are late miss valuable
instruction.
Breakfast begins at 8:30. Students
should not be at school before then, unless they are enrolled in
Extended Care. Our first bell rings at 8:45 and students may go to
their rooms at that time. After 9 AM, students will be marked tardy.
Please remember to be patient while dropping kids off and picking them
up. Drive carefully and slowly. The driveways are very congested, but
only for a short time. If you want to come in the building, please park
in one of the parking lots. Do not leave your vehicles unattended in
the driveways.
I am out of the office most of the day visiting classrooms and
monitoring student learning. I'm hard to catch, but if I can be of
assistance to you please call and set up an appointment to visit with
me.
