Students in 5th Grade made these Native Dancers. We made an armature with sculpture wire and then nailed that to a wood block. We used 3 pieces of wire: one forming the head and down the body and one leg, the next wire was made into the arms, and the last piece was for the other leg. Students look at video and pictures of dances at a local Pow Wow. We got the armature into a great dancing pose. We then covered the wire with a paper mache clay. We then dressed our dancers in fancy clothes.
The students loved this project and worked very hard on their dancers. They have so much personality. We set them up in the library to show them off. It looked like a Pow Wow!!!!
