Rainy Day in the Park
These pictures of a rainy fall day were done with markers on paper in a loose impressionistic style. I gave a demonstration to the class on this technique. After the picture was colored it was sprayed with a mist of water to allow the colors to run and bleed some, giving a fuzzy painted look to the picture. We talked about this quality of atmosphere (atmospheric predictive) which was observed from the weather outside (we had rain for several days). We also observed colors in the trees outside. After the paper was dry students could choose to add the streaks of rain coming down as many parallel lines. These lines are hard edge to contrast with the soft fuzzy background.
