Room
in Perspective
These pictures are made with collage paper shapes, marker, and crayon. I have cut shapes so students can glue them to create a one point linear perspective of the interior of a room. Students must glue two triangle shapes so they become the walls (or triangles for ceiling and floor) and then a rectangle in the proper position so it becomes the back wall. The vanishing point is created under the piece of paper that is the back wall. It is the place where the two triangles meet. We use the vanishing point to calculate the angles so we can add a checker board floor, windows, posters, or doors on the side walls. We add a few figures to our rooms with one person closer and another farther away. We adjust the size of the figures to enhance the illusion of depth.
