Students made a snowy day landscape painting with tempera paint. We brushed as well as blew the back tempera to make the trees. We used more water in the black paint to make different values of gray. We used a light wash for the sky. To finish the painting, we used thick white tempera for highlights and falling snow. Depth is achieved through atmospheric perspective and placement. Trees appear lighter in value as they get further away and are placed higher on the page.
