Lauren Battard

Ms. Battard grew up in Allen, TX. Because of the outstanding English teachers she experienced throughout her education, she chose to follow a path in the field of teaching.  After high school she attended Oklahoma State University where she discovered her love for teaching, literature, and the Oklahoma State Cowboys. She received her B.S. in Secondary Education with an emphasis on English in 2009. She has taught at Ponca City High School and is looking forward to having a great year at the Bartlesville Mid-High!

Adam Dorris                                                                                                          As an Oklahoma native and dedicated Bartian, I know who designed the Price Tower, what Shin'en Kahn was, and I've logged many a mile on the Pathfinder. I am a left-handed Eagle Scout, and I have climbed mountains and sailed through the Keys. I love the adventure of a great story, from the satirical world of Terry Pratchett, to the sage words of C.S. Lewis. Fluxx is one of my favorite card games, and Far cry is one of my favorite computer games. I make a mean fried egg sandwich, and I can fix most things that don't have motors. I'm working on the motors. My wife Rebekah runs Jareds' Frozen Custard (stop by and visit) and My 18 month old son Clark is currently in charge of domestic inventory and rearrangement. I love learning and teaching, and I believe that life is an adventure that we should face without fear. Only in the absence of fear are we ever truly free.

Sandy Dossett                                                                                                        "Life is a story we write, revise, and edit each day.  I've always loved stories so that makes teaching ninth grade English an exciting adventure for me," according to Mrs. Dossett.  She is married and  has four children and three grandchildren.  She earned her degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English and Social Studies in 1993 at Bartlesville Wesleyan College, now Oklahoma Wesleyan University.  She taught seven years at Central Middle School, took a brief break to the corporate world, and returned in the 2004-2005 school year to teach English at the Mid-High. She also received her masters in Collegiate Scholarship and Services with an emphasis in English at Northeastern State University in 2006  She is a National Board Certified teacher in Adolescent and Young Adult Language Arts. Her extracurricular activities include assisting her husband at The Rock, a local youth center and ministry, and spending time with her husband, grown children and grandchildren.

John King

Mr. King graduated this past May from NSU with a degree in English education. He is very involved in church and youth work. He has been married for four years to a beautiful young lady named Amber.  According to Mr. King, "She is absolutely the light of my life. She is pregnant with our first child, and we have found out it is a boy. We have already picked a name, Dalton, and are anxiously awaiting his arrival. We have a less-than-potty-trained wiener dog named Elvis who keeps us from getting carpet." Mr. King coaches the offensive line for the varsity football team and has thoroughly enjoyed sweating it out with the boys as he looks to improve and place Bartlesville among the elite squads atop class 6A. He played  college football, yet injury and engagement beckoned him back to Oklahoma to finish school. He has two sisters and a brother, and he is proud to say that he is the least accomplished of all of his siblings. "I am very proud of them. My mom is a music teacher and my dad is a youth minister, and they are my heroes and the reasons I got into education."

Rexanne McCrary                                                                                                                  Rexanne McCrary, married to Scott McCrary since 1994, has two children, Camden who is five and Kailee who is eight.  She went to high school in Tulsa at Nathan Hale, attended college at OSU, and graduated with a B.S. in Speech and Drama. After having her second child, she added English to her teaching career.   "Scott and I lived in Eufaula when we were first married and moved to Owasso for five years before moving to Bartlesville.  During that time I taught for 7 years with Jenks Public Schools with the last five being at their Freshman Academy.   My goal is to one day write my own children's book and be in a commercial.  Scott is a youth minister with East Cross United Methodist Church, which is why we moved here.  I love to read to my children and watch TV when everyone is asleep."  Check out Mrs. McCrary's website. http://sites.google.com/site/mccrarysmagicalmap

Amy Viele

My passion for reading, writing and teaching stems from my childhood.  My parents have always been voracious readers, and even now when I return home to visit them, they greet me with articles from U. S. News & World Report and a smattering of novels.  I was raised on 40 acres on the Arkansas River in Osage County, and I absolutely love being outdoors.  I enjoy camping, hiking, four wheeling and boating.  It is no wonder then that my favorite pieces of literature to study, works by Thoreau and Emerson, incorporate the importance of nature into their themes.  I also enjoy reading autobiographies and memoirs, my favorite being The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom.  My husband Jim and I have two daughters, a son-in-law, and one very spoiled miniature rat terrier named Madison.  My professional career began when I graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education/English, and I am very excited to be a part of the Pre-AP English program in the Bartlesville Public School System.
