Annual tailgate kickoff party scheduled for Sept. 5

The Fourth Annual Teacher/Employee Appreciation Tailgate Party is set to kickoff Sept. 5 on the Bartlesville High School campus.

The event, which is sponsored by the First Baptist Church , will feature fun, food and fellowship. It is free and open to all teachers and employees – as well as their family members – within the Bartlesville Public School District . Several door prizes will be given away throughout the event, which is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m., and only a school ID is needed for entry.

The Teacher/Employee Appreciation Tailgate Party coincides with the kickoff of the BHS varsity football team's regular season home opener, which will be on Sept. 5 at Custer Stadium. The game is set to start at 7:30 p.m. and the party will conclude shortly before then so everyone has time to take their seats before the competition begins.

The school within the district which has the most representatives at the tailgate party will receive a $200 Wal-Mart gift card courtesy of the First Baptist Church .

Last year's event featured grilled hamburgers and hotdogs as well as chips and drinks. It drew an estimated 600 people to the northwest corner of the BHS campus.
