Purpose:
Students will demonstrate how to use metric measurement (length, mass, temperature, and volume) and how to convert metric to English and English to metric.

Summary:
Students will participate in multiple activities demonstrating the different ways to measure matter using the metric system.

Materials:

  • counter-weight balance
  • conversion chart
  • graduated cylinders
  • thermometer with Celsius and Fahrenheit

Safety Concerns:
Common sense precautions; thermometers may contain mercury and the graduated cylinders may be made of glass and therefore create a glass hazard.
