Purpose:
This activity allows students to use familiar substances to predict, record, create and interpret graphs, and draw conclusions based upon their results.

Summary:
Students will predict the number and colors of the M&M's in each bag and then record the actual numbers and colors. From that information, students will create a graph, compare information with other students, and then draw conclusions based upon all of the information they received.

Materials:
For each student:

  • One individually wrapped snack-size package of M&M's
  • one data worksheet
  • set of colored pencils or crayons
