Objectives:

  1. By classifying organisms, biologists consider details of internal and external structure.
    Local extension: A five or six-kingdom classification system will be used to classify living things.

Time Range:
2nd Quarter

Suggested Teaching Strategies:

  • Separate the Moneran Kingdom into Archaeobacteria and Eubacteria.
  • Name the six kingdoms of living things, identify the structural features of each kingdom and give examples of organisms found in each kingdom.
  • Name the phyla within the Animal Kingdom, identify structural features of each phylum and give examples.
  • Name the classes within the Phylum Chordata and the Phylum Arthropoda. Identify the structural features of each class and give examples.
