5. Diversity and Adaptations of Organisms

Objectives:

  1. Organisms have a great variety of internal and external structures that enable them to survive in a specific habitat such as echolocation of bats, seed dispersal methods, etc.
    Local extension: Organisms in the animal kingdom will be classified at the phylum level, while organisms in the arthropod phylum will be classified at the class level.

Time Range:
2nd Quarter

Suggested Teaching Strategies:

  • Booklet designed to emphasize phylum levels.
  • List structures, functions, and adaptations of various organisms from different classes.
  • Draw and label structures and identify characteristics of arthropods.
