Purpose:
To determine the effect of one variable on an enclosed ecosystem.

Summary:
Students design an experiment to test the effect of a single variable on the growth of radish seeds in a closed ecosystem. After teacher approval, students construct two closed ecosystems (experimental and control groups). Students measure pH, height of water in bottle, number of seedlings growing, and height of seedlings over a period of 3 to 4 weeks. At the conclusion, students use computers to create a graph of the collected data and write a concluding paragraph about the results of the experiment.
