Summary:
Students test a monosaccharide, disaccharide and polysaccharide using the Iodine test and the Benedict's test. By testing these substances, students will develop a chart for determining the type of carbohydrate. Students will then test various unknown substances and use the chart developed in the first part of the lab to determine the type(s) of carbohydrates present in each.
