Gravimetric analysis of the amount of chlorine which combines with zinc yields mole amount comparisons and identification of a formula.

• mossy zinc
• 100 mL beaker
• support for stands
• wire gauze
• Bunsen burners
• 6 M HCl
• beaker tongs

Safety Concerns:
6 M HCl is corrosive. Care should be used in handling flame when used. Chemical splash goggles are required.
