Previous Core Lab

Purpose:
Understand how energy production and waste material can cause or add to water pollution. Understand function of BOD and how oxygen concentration varies with temperature.

Summary:
Students will use a methylene blue indicator to study the effects of placing yeast into an enriched nutrient environment and an environment with elevated temperature. The students will relate the availability of oxygen to these changes in the environment and the overall impact on living organisms.
