Purpose: To introduce students to the concepts of homology, analogy, common ancestry, and adaptation.
Summary: Students will observe collections of biological specimens and discuss answers to open-ended questions in a cooperative learning format. Students will draw conclusions about relationships between organisms and adaptation by observation.

Materials:
- Various "wings" (chicken, bat, large moth, dragonfly)
- "Animal hands" x-rays (computer)
- Various "skulls with beaks" (owl, chicken, duck, pigeon, robin)
- Various mammal skulls (human, dog, cat, sheep, rabbit)
- Branches of assorted conifers (red cedar, bald cypress, gingko, pine)
