Motion and Forces
The motion of an object can be described by its position, direction of motion, and speed. A change in motion occurs when a net force is applied.

Objectives:

  1. Gravity: Gravitation is a universal force that each mass exerts on any other mass.

Time Range:
1st Quarter; 1 week

Suggested Teaching Strategies:
CPO Chapter 3 Section 2

  • Students will define related vocabulary terms; use pre-reading guides to introduce them to the text; and fill in guided outline during class discussion.
  • Optional - Demonstrate weightlessness using Styrofoam cup and colored water.
  • Distinguish between mass and weight using various activities and worksheets.
  • Reinforce student understanding using worksheets and activities.
